Silencio (2019)
Photography captures something that the eyes cannot see. Only the camera gives the viewer access to it. It takes the present and turns it into a past only to be seen in the future. As such, the camera is a time machine working in some kind of magic act that does not present us with an illusion but a reality that we otherwise can not experience. Silencio is a photographic series of rocks slowly disappearing through erosion. It portrays time and our incapacity to actually grasp its immensity. Because of this, because we will never be able to witness the erosion ourselves, it is the mist that embodies the act of disappearance: a veil that instead of separating us from the present unites us with a future in which the ocean will crush into nothing. And there will only be silence.
